Groundhog Day:
A shadow of Punxsutawney Phil means six more weeks of winter,
and no shadow means spring is around the corner.
At his school, Wyatt made a groundhog and a little grass hole. He enjoyed showing we, his parents, how this little groundhog pops up from inside of the hole. So, we, his parents, (namely his father) took this zeal for groundhog day to the next level and taught Wyatt the name of the groundhog. Sadly, it was the first time I had ever heard the name of this famous rodent.
I did, however learn some humorous "facts" about Groundhog Day:
"Groundhog Day proponents state that the rodents' forecasts are accurate 75% to 90%"
the rodent's prediction?? seriously???
"A Canadian study for 13 cities in the past 30 to 40 years puts success rate level at 37%"
does this really surprise anyone???
"Also, the National Climatic Data Center reportedly has stated that the overall
predictions accuracy rate is around 39%"
Punxsutawney Phil
Happy Groundhog!!!
